Parliament suspends Pioneer Easy Bus Company Ltd operations.

The Parliament’s committee on Public service and Local government has suspended Pioneer Easy Bus Company Ltd operations until a new contract signed.

The committee halted the company operations slated to commence next month in the city suburbs during a meeting with the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Executive Director Jenifer Musisi and Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago.

The committee chaired by Kalungu woman MP Florence Kintu summoned Musisi and Lukwago to explain circumstance under which Pioneer Easy Bus Company Ltd solely obtained a contract to operate in the Metropolitan area.

The committee early this week launched investigations into the validity of Pioneer Easy bus contract to operate bus services.

Pioneer Easy Bus company has invested over sh23 billion ($10 million) in a fleet of 522 modern buses that will operate in the metropolis. The halt of the operation comes after the company announced to commence operations next month. The Company chief executive David Baligana said about 100 buses were set to start transporting passengers in March.
