F.D.C`s Mwiru Wins Jinja By Elections

Thousands of supporters of opposition party FDC have thronged the streets of Jinja town to celebrate victory in yesterday’s Jinja East parliamentary by-election.  The supporters danced to the famous Kadodi beat as horns blared deafeningly from several vehicles and boda boda bikes.
The FDC candidate Paul Mwiru won with 7,758 votes followed by the candidate of the ruling party, NRM Igeme Nabeeta who polled 6, 057.  Waiswa Mufumbiro of the Democratic Party got 291 votes followed by Cranmer Dhikusooka in fourth place with 29.  The UPC candidate Ritchie Osinde finished last with only 16 votes.

Meanwhile losing candidate, Nabeeta has accepted the results.  He however criticizes opposition supporters of beating up his own supporters during the election process.  Nabeeta denies reports that he bribed voters.
