Major Reshuffle In Police As Top Police Officers Transferred

Police Chief Kale Kayihura last night is reported to have made wide-ranging changes in which Edward Ochom, the Director of Criminal Investigations, was transferred to head Research and Planning.

The transfers that affected 18 senior officers, comes a fortnight after Maj. Gen. Kale Kayihura was approved for another three-year term as the Inspector General of Police.

Ms Grace Akullo, who was a fortnight ago promoted to Assistant Inspector General of Police, will replace  Ochom as head of CID. She has been commandant of the Special Investigations Unit.

The head of Interpol, Francis Rwego, has been transferred to Interpol sub-region in Nairobi and replaced by  Asan Kasingye.

Kasingye, who has been the Force’s Chief Political commissar, will be replaced by Commissioner Asuman Mugenyi, who will also double as the force’s spokesperson.

Ms Judith Nabakooba, has been relegated to Deputy Spokesperson but will also double as Deputy Chief Political Commissar. Ms Jessica Orodriyo, who is fresh from the United Nations Mission in Sudan, has been named the Director of Human Resource and Development, replacing Fredrick Kiyaga.

Richard Bisherurwa, the head of Special Duties, Julius Shaliita, the director of Research and Planning, and David Magara, the deputy director Interpol, have been told to report to the IGP for re-deployment.

Andrew Sorowen, who has been in Southern region as a coordinator, will head Special Duties in the office of the IGP, while  Elly Womanya has been moved from CID where he has been the Deputy Director in-charge of Intelligence to Interpol as the Deputy Director.  Womanya has been replaced by Remmy Turinomugisha.

The Commissioner in-charge of Operation, Commissioner Joseph Mugisha, has been moved to the Fire Department as the Chief Fire Officer.
He will be deputised by Simon Peter Musoke who has been acting as the Chief Fire Officer.

Senior Superintendent of Police Haruna Isabirye has been appointed the Deputy Director Operations, a position which has been vacant for months ever since Benson Oyo Nyeko was deployed to Somalia to the war-tor country’s police officers.

Dr. Steven Kasiiima, who is back from training Somalis in policing under the African Union, has been taken back to the Traffic Department as the Commissioner.
