The commander of Special Forces Group, Col. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has denied owning the social network account running in his name on Facebook.

Col. Muhoozi said in a statement issued by SFG that the visitors of the page were unknowingly revealing classified information to the owner, thinking it was him.

“This page is causing excitement from browsers and we are learning that some unsuspecting friends of the Colonel have started sending sensitive and classified information to this page thinking that the page belongs to the true Commander of Special Forces, Col. Muhoozi Kainerugaba,” the statement said.

The page has a picture of Col. Muhoozi in full military attire, with red beret and insignia of his rank stitched on.

The picture was taken from Kyadondo Rugby Club, Kampala, on July 12, 2010, while overseeing the security of his father, President Museveni during the Presidential visit to the scene of the July 11 terror attacks.

The owner says he is employed by UPDF and studied from St. Mary’s College Kisubi, the information that corresponds with employers and the former school of Col. Muhoozi.

The latest update on the page by “Col. Muhoozi” posted yesterday morning, said “imposters and counter revolutionaries” must be dealt with “firmly and effectively”.

Many of his friends have written thanking and appreciating him for accepting to be their friends on Facebook. Others praised him for being a good and hardworking.

But the SFG warned visitors of the page to take caution.

“No one should dispatch information to Facebook (“Col. Muhoozi Kainerugaba”) thinking that he is sending to the Commander of SFG,” the statement said

SGF said they have established channels of how information is sent to Commander of SFG including this office, without using Facebook.
