A woman has died in a Lyantonde government health centre after the doctors failed to get stitches to sew the wound after an operation.

The deceased whose name remains unknown had gone to Kasambya Health Centre IV in Lyantonde district to give birth.

Joan Nuwagaba the sister to the deceased says that the doctor operated on her sister before he prepared the stitches.

Nuwagaba adds that the doctor sent one of the nurses to a clinic for stitches but the nurse brought what looked like threads for clothes, which the doctor refused to use.

The officer in charge of Kasambya Health Centre, Dr. Oboth Okot however denies reports that the centre did not have stitches at the centre.

Oboth says that the woman died of excessive bleeding adding that the deceased had a record of over bleeding while giving birth.

This comes barely days after Police  arrested and detained six medical officers of Mbale Referral Hospital for the death of a pregnant teacher and her baby .

Cecilia Nambozo, the deceased, a teacher at Busamaga Primary School in Mbale Municipality, bled to death allegedly unattended to after failing to raise Shs300,000 the medical officers had reportedly asked for.
