Due to the increased need to invest in business sector by Ugandans, Google has confirmed a commitment to drive the web forward in Uganda to highlight the entrepreneur opportunities presented by internet especially to small business sector that will help the economy of Uganda to compete with other leading developed countries. The  American multinational public corporation invested in Internet search, cloud computing, advertising technologies, and search engines has a net worth of over 29 billion us dollars.

Google, plans to reduce the cost of smart phones in Africa to an affordable range in order to boost the use of the internet by mobile users as well as encourage them to support small business sectors and other private sector enterprises.

The company intends to sell genuine smart phones at prices below Shs225, 000 to encourage more Africans to abandon basic phones with a few functions and this will help them to improve their profits in their business smoothly, according to Ham Namakajjo the lead company manager.

He added that Google’s planned partnership with US firm Motorola, maker of Motorola phones, is aimed at creating affordable smart phones for its emerging markets including Africa and Asia .However in doing this they face many constricts to reach the remote people to be aware of internet usage especially farmers who would benefit a lot from trade and export platforms.

According to the Uganda Communications Commission Uganda has about 4 million internet users who access the internet at least once a month,. Majority of people in Africa access the internet via the mobile phone, Motorola being a player in this industry it will allow speeding up access to the internet through the uptake of smart phones in order to reduce internet congestion.
