Uganda To Run Out Of Free ARVs – UHMG Board

Social Health marketing Group, Uganda Health Marketing Group warns that many people living with HIV/AIDS might fail to access free Anti Retro Viral drugs as aid from donor countries continue to dwindle.

The announcement was made during the organization’s annual general meeting in which the organization reaffirmed its commitment to provide access to good health care for all Ugandans.

However, the board of directors warns that with the increasing number of new HIV/AIDS infection, the available resources may fail to meet the demand.

As reports from both the non governmental organization and government show an upward trend in number of new infections of HIV/AIDS in the country, social health marketing Group UHMG has expressed concern that the numbers would overwhelm the available resources. Their concerns stem from the looming threat over the population explosion that economists warn would strain the country’s resources.

The Group Board of Directors report that while the organization has made progress in availing and sensitizing the public about the importance of family planning, cases of HIV/AIDS are now on the increase.

The organization has now geared its emphasis on the reduction of the numbers which it blames on complacency and government which needs to prioritize the fight against HIV/ AIDS. The organization adds that as the country makes progress in family planning, many especially married couples protect themselves against pregnancies rather than infections.
